Modifying a Zitto TC-1 Spoke Tension Meter to work with 16-inch wheels

Unfortunately, most spoke tension meters are too large to work with a 16-inch wheel, so I bought a cheap Zitto TC-1 from China and modified it to fit.

Here are the stages that I went through:

1. Take original TC-1 and measure the tension on a spoke that you have marked - this will be your reference
   
   
   
   
2. Unscrew the studs and drill holes the same size as the original holes, 75mm apart. Install the studs in the new positions
   
   
   
   
3. Cut off any excess metal and grind smooth
   
   
   
   
4. Adjust the calibration screw on the back to set the TC-1 to the same tension as before on your reference spoke
   
   
   
   

Whilst this new tension meter will not be 100% accurate due to its shortened reach, it should be reasonably accurate and will allow comparisons between spokes as a starting point.
